THE MARANA EXIT IS NOW THE PREFERRED EXIT FOR THOSE COMING FROM TUCSON VIA INTERSTATE 10 SINCE CATTLE TANK ROAD HAS BEEN PAVED FROM PARK LINK DRIVE DOWN TO DAVIS RANCH.

 

Directions From The Phoenix Area, Casa Grande and Eloy via I10:


For your planning purposes travel time from the Phoenix airport  is about 2 hours. Cattle Tank has been paved and our 0.7 mile lane is the only dirt road and it is in good shape and can accomodate any size vehicle.

Do not use any mapping programs or your GPS because the data base they all use may not be correct. We are in a very rural area and you need to use the following directions. You might be able to use your GPS to identify these turns but do not use it for directions. Please follow the following directions carefully.

From Phoenix take I10 East towards Tucson to the Picacho Peak Road Exit #219. (The Peak and not the town). Make a left turn at the end of the exit ramp and go under the freeway and continue until coming to the East side frontage road. Turn right on the frontage road and go 4.8 miles to Park Link Road. Turn left on Park Link Road.

 

Go a total of 8.2 miles on Park Link and just past Mile Post 8 turn right on Cattle Tank road. You might want to check your odometer to alert you when you get close to the Cattle Tank turn.  You can use the Mile Posts every mile to alert you when you are getting close to the turn.

 

The Cattle Tank turn is well marked. Cattle Tank has been paved!. Slow for the cattle guard. Cattle Tank and our lane are passable with any size vehicle.

 

Go south on Cattle Tank 3.1 miles. As you near the 3.1 mile point watch for our sign on the right and on the left that says "Ironwood" with an arrow to the left. There is also a sign for our lane but it is blocked by the a Palo Verde tree.  Turn left just beyond this tree down our lane which is Crystal Visions. You will see the road sign once you make the turn.  Go about 0.7 miles. We are on the left.  You can’t miss our sign at the front of the sanctuary. Please park outside the gate. The gate opens inward from the left. Lift the inside pin on the left to release the gate. You may go into the Visitor Center to wait for the tour and use the rest room.

Directions from Apache Junction, East Mesa and the Queen Creek area via Florence and Highway 79

 

For your planning purposes travel time from Apache Junction is about 2 hours. Our 0.7 mile lane is the only dirt road. Cattle Tank has been paved this year. Our lane is in good shape and can accomodate any size vehicle.

Do not use any mapping programs or your GPS because the date base they all use may not correct. We are in a very rural area and you need to use the following directions. You might be able to use your GPS to identify these turns but do not use it for directions. Please follow the following directions carefully.

From Apache Junction take Interstate 60 east until you come to route 79 also called Florence Highway. It is quite a few miles from Apache Junction.  For those coming from the Hunt Highway area go south and head east to Florence and take route 79 south.

Take 79 south for a number of miles.  Travel through Florence and continue until you reach milepost 102 on the Florence Highway.  Just past milepost 102 turn right on Park Link.

 

Go a total of 10 miles on Park Link and 3/4 mile past mile post 9 turn left on Cattle Tank road. You might want to check your odometer to alert you when you get close to the Cattle Tank turn.  Just in case you think you have missed the turn you will know that you aren't there yet based upon your odometer.

Directions from Central Tucson Via I10

ALTERNATE DIRECTIONS THIS YEAR THAT ARE MORE DIRECT THAN PARK LINK

Cattle Tank road has been paved this year from Park Link down to Davis Ranch. As a result there are these preferred directions to the sanctuary. If you want to use the old directions from the Red Rock Exit and Park Link Road see the directions further down in this catagory. These directions are 11 miles shorter than getting off at Red Rock.

Take I10 West (Towards Phoenix) to the Marana Exit #236. At the end of the exit ramp make a right turn and go about 50 feet and then make an immediate left turn onto the frontage road. You will again be heading towards Phoenix but on the frontage road which is beside I10.  Go about 5 miles and turn right on Missile Base road. Go 2 miles on Missile Base road and turn left on Estancia. Go 1.1 mile and turn right on Davis Ranch. Go 1.7 miles and turn left on Cattle Tank. Go 2.2 miles and turn right on Crystal Visions which is our lane.

Go about 0.7 miles. We are on the left.  You can’t miss our sign at the front of the sanctuary. Please park outside the gate. The gate opens inward from the left. Lift the inside pin on the left to release the gate. You may go into the Visitor Center to wait for the tour and use the rest room.

HISTORICAL DIRECTIONS TO IRONWOOD VIA THE RED ROCK EXIT AND PARK LINK.

Take I10 West (Towards Phoenix) to the Red Rock exit #226. Exit at Red Rock. Directions from Northeast Tucson via the town of Catalina

For your planning purposes travel time from NE Tucson is about 1 1/2 hours. Only our 0.7 mile land is dirt. Cattle Tank has been paved this year. Our lane is in good shape and passable with any size vehicle.

Do not use any mapping programs or your GPS because the data base they all use may not be correct. We are in a very rural area and you need to use the following directions. You might be able to use your GPS to identify these turns but do not use it for directions. Please follow the following directions carefully.

Take Sabino Canyon (Stay on Kolb), Craycroft, Swan or other street north to Sunrise.  Take Sunrise left to Oracle Road.  Sunrise turns into Skyline then Ina before getting to Oracle Road.

Take Oracle Road north and drive through the town of Catalina. Catalina is probably about 10 miles north of Ina Road.


From the north end of Catalina continue to drive for about 5 miles to where Oracle Road makes a sweeping right 90 degree turn at Oracle Junction.  At the start of the turn make a left turn on Florence Highway, Route 79, towards Florence.

Drive 10 miles north and just past milepost 101 turn left on Park Link Drive.

 

Go a total of 10 miles on Park Link and 3/4 mile past mile post 9 turn left on Cattle Tank road. You might want to check your odometer to alert you when you get close to the Cattle Tank turn.  Just in case you think you have missed the turn you will know that you aren't there yet based upon your odometer.

Directions from Tucson via Catalina for those living on Oracle Road

 

For your planning purposes travel time from the northwest side of Tucson is about 1 hour. Cattle Tank has been paved this year. Only our 0.7 mile lane is dirt and it is in good condition and passable with any sized vehicle.

Do not use any mapping programs or your GPS because the data base they all use may not correct. We are in a very rural area and you need to use the following directions. You might be able to use your GPS to identify these turns but do not use it for directions. For the Open House there should be Ironwood direction signs at all the turns. But just in case some of them are missing please follow the following directions carefully.

Take Oracle Road north and drive through the town of Catalina. Catalina is probably about 10 miles north of Ina Road.
